 GETTING INTO MANAUS

Important Information on how to get to Manaus and air travel costs!

In order to get into Manaus to attend ICFSI-11 the best economic route in terms of costs and time will be buying from any major airline company a round trip ticket in the form:

Your City / São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro / Manaus / São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro / Your City

Departing from any major city in the world and returning to the same city, airlines usually have their international flights fares based on the total mileage traveled. Once your reach a certain amount of miles (for example 5000 miles) an additional leg on your ticket will affect too little the round trip costs of your ticket.

For example, traveling from any major city in the world to São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro (Your City / São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro / Your City) generally may cost between US$ 800 and 2,200, depending from which country you live.

However, if you issue a ticket from the same airline with the route Your City / São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro / Manaus / São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro / Your City this change of route will add little to the total cost of the new ticket, something usually between US$ 50 - 80 more. Therefore despite of the distance of São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro to Manaus (2000 - 2500 miles) and the flight duration (between 3-4 hours) the increase on costs of your air ticket to Manaus will very small.

There are at least 7-10 fights daily from São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro to Manaus, the exact number depends on the specific day of the week. The major Brazilian airlines who fly this route are TAM and VARIG (this will be useful to advise your travel agent). Each of these companies, work with different partner International airlines.

The most advisable flights from São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro to Manaus, are those which are NON-STOP or the ones which has ONE STOP in Brasília, our national capital.

For example, TAM has as partner airlines: Air France, American Airlines, KLM, etc.

VARIG has as partner airlines: Air Canada, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Spanair, TAP Portugal, THAI, United, US Airways, South African Airways e SWISS

All major international airlines carry daily flights to São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro from major world cities.

Of course, you may attempt alternative routes like going to other Brazilian cities (in the northeast region of Brazil) such as Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza, etc., and then connect to Manaus. However we advise that this may be too time consuming due to several stops of the plane on the way from these cities to Manaus.

Remember, if you wish to stay longer in Manaus to know additional attractions, the special rates for the ICFSI-11 hotels in Manaus, at the Tropical Eco Resort will be honored by us the week prior or the week after the conference, if you place your hotel reservation at the time of your registration before the deadlines indicated elsewhere.

Also, you may take the opportunity of visiting Brazil, if you have some extra days before or after ICFSI-11, and maybe do some little tourism or sight seeing in Brazil. If you wish to visit other Brazilian destinations you may get good info on places, cities, and hotels by visiting:
