11th ICFSI

After a long wait, it is our pleasure to inform the authors of accepted papers for publication on the ICFSI-11 Proceedings, that the papers were sent to Elsevier and that production process of the proceedings is star-ting and underway.

In due time, soon, each author will be receiving direct from Elsevier the final acceptation and the proof of your paper if any querries are needed.

The expected and/or antecipated publication date of the proceedings will be November-December 2008.

The refereeing process is still underway and only by LATE DECEMBER authors of submitted papers will receive feedback on the review of their papers for publication on the special issue of Applied Surface Science.

We apologize any inconvenience but some referees did not reply or helped our request to review the manuscrits which caused a delay in the publication process.

The 2007 ICFSI is concluded as a great success!!! We thank all 158 attendees, each one of who have been responsible for part of this success!!!

The meeting is comprised of 5 invited plenary, 22 invited oral presentations and 44 contributed oral presentations. These are given by eminent researchers from 39 countries. An LCD projector will be available for you to show your Power Point or PDF Formated presentations. Please supply your files to ICFSI personnel at the secretariat desk, at least 12 hours prior to the schedule of your presentation! If you intend to use transparencies for your talk please advise ICFSI secretariat by August 10, otherwise only Power Point presentation facilities will be available at the meeting!

Each poster to be presented will have an allocated space of 1,20 m x 2,00 m. These dimensions are for a PORTRAIT format of the poster. Posters should be setup on the boards using double face sticking tape, that will be made available in the poster room.

ALL DELEGATES AND ACCOMPANYING PERSONS ARE ADVISED TO BRING THE BUG REPELLENT OF YOUR CHOICE!!! THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT IF YOU DECIDE TO VISIT THE AMAZON FOREST FROM WITHIN. THIS OPRTUNITY MAY APPEAR DURING THE CONFERENCE EXCURSION.

Yellow fever vaccine is recommended for all persons with age greater than nine months travelling to all areas of the Legal Amazon region in Brazil

Yellow fever vaccine can be administered at an approved yellow fever vaccination center, at least 15 days prior to travelling, and the vaccination center will give each vaccinee a fully validated International Certificate of Vaccination.

To U.S.A. and Japanese attendees: Be advised that a VISA is required to enter Brazil

Delegates must find out if a VISA for you to enter Brazil is necessary. If so, you MUST prepare the necessary documents imediately.

Pre-registered delegates who had abstracts accepted and have not confirmed attending ICFSI and presenting their Oral or Poster presentation by June 30, will be removed from the final program!

Dear delegates: If you do not send you arrival/departure information by June 30 2007, then you will on your own to transfer from the airport to the hotel venue and back at a cost of at leaSt US$ 30. as asked in the newsletter, please send the information to

Delegates who have placed optional tour reservations will receive with the conference materials package the correspondent Tour/Voucher who will be honored by a travel agent located inside the Hotel Tropical Manaus. There you may choose the appropiated day/time schedule for your tour.

Deadline for paper submission for ICFSI proceedings publication in Applied Surface Science was June 20, 2007.

Please Notice: When submitting your paper for the Proceedings of ICFSI, you or one co-author MUST be a Registered Delegate to the conference, confirm ATTENDANCE and PRESENTATION of your work. Lack to do so will imply that your paper will not be considered for publication in Applied Surface Science.

All delegates are supposed to have received registration and hotel reservation confirmation by now. If you did not, please contact the secretariat as soon as possible!!!

Early Registration and Hotel/Tour reservation period was over May 02, 2007. You may stil register with higher prices up to July 10, after this only on site registration is possible.
